CANCOM's Energy Community Platformenables the smooth operation of your energy community. The platform is already being used successfully by over100 energy communitiesin Austria. Users benefit from a comprehensive digital solution and comprehensive support for their energy community.
What is an energy community?
Energy communities are an innovative concept that drives forward the energy transition. They enable private individuals, companies and local authorities to generate, use and share renewable energy together - as part of an energy community or energy family. This allows local energy, costs and CO₂ emissions to be managed efficiently.
The focus is on renewable energy sources such as solar energy, wind power and biomass. The aim is to optimise energy production and consumption, use data intelligently and ensure transparent billing and efficient billing processes with digital SaaS solutions.
There are two main types: renewable energy communities and citizen energy communities. Both promote sustainable communities, strengthen the regional energy market and enable a cooperative, regionally anchored energy organisation. Members can sharetheir electricity, optimise self-consumption and reduce the discrepancy between generated and consumed energy.
With green energy, intelligent data utilisation and an intuitive SaaS platform, energy communities create economic benefits for all members and a sustainable energy future- cooperative, automated and attractive for providers and communities alike.
What is a renewable energy community?
Renewableenergy communities exclusively utilise renewable energy sources such as photovoltaics, wind power or hydropower. They are spatially limited and can be organised as a local or regional community, depending on the grid level of the participants. This geographical proximity increases efficiency and reduces grid utilisation. Participants benefit from a reduction in grid fees. Large companies are excluded from participation.
What is a community energy pool?
Citizens' energy communities are not subject to any geographical restrictions and are therefore accessible to any metering point in Austria. As this allows full utilisation of the electricity grid, there is no reduction in grid fees for members. In contrast to renewable energy communities, there are no restrictions on the energy sources used in community energy communities. Larger companies can also participate. These benefit, for example, from the possibility of using electricity from company-owned photovoltaic systems across multiple locations.
With the Energy Community Platform, any form of energy community can be operated and managed!
